Our restaurants could not operate without the leadership of great General Managers (GMs). Their title might be “General Manager,” but the Top GMs are really our Wendy’s brand heroes.
Each year, Wendy’s recognizes the brand’s Top 200 General Managers, who are selected from more than 6,800 Company and franchise restaurants around the world. The vast majority of the GMs started as Wendy’s crew members and have grown their career through promotions to Shift Manager, Assistant Manager and now General Manager.
Created in 2019 by U.S. President and Chief Commercial Officer Kurt Kane, the Make Your Mark award celebrates powerful leaders across the Wendy's U.S. System who are driving key brand initiatives.

The Breakthrough Award is an award to recognize international Company and Franchise employees—with an emphasis on standout GMs—who demonstrate breakthrough thinking and leading of the Wendy’s brand outside the U.S.
We also are proud of our Company-operated restaurants, which have been a leader in the industry when it comes to retaining our employees. For the third straight year, we were recognized by Black Box Intelligence, a third-party firm that measures restaurant industry performance on several key people metrics, as its Global Best Practice winner in the quick service restaurant segment based on the Company’s restaurants’ turnover rates relative to our peers.
Wendy's achieved a perfect score of 100 on the Human Rights Campaign's Corporate Equality Index and the Company was designated as a Best Place To Work for LGBTQ Equality. This survey is the nation's premier benchmarking survey and report measuring corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ+ workplace equality.
