Future Fresh: A New Design for Wendy’s International Restaurants
In a crowded global QSR landscape, standing out matters more than ever.
As Wendy’s® continues to grow globally, we saw an opportunity to more effectively showcase what makes our brand distinctive, particularly in new markets where we’re building brand awareness.
Our new international restaurant design, Future Fresh, was shaped by insights from customers, franchisees, and learnings from recent market entries. The feedback was clear: as we grow and strengthen our global footprint, Wendy’s needs to show up in a way that feels modern, confident, and differentiated, while staying true to the brand our fans know and love.
We sat down with members of the team behind Future Fresh to answer some of the most common questions about what it is, why it matters, and where you’ll see the new design.
Q: What is Future Fresh?
Future Fresh is Wendy’s latest design for international restaurants, bringing together physical design, digital experiences, and brand expression into one cohesive system.
It will most often be used in newer markets where Wendy’s is expanding, or where clear brand differentiation is critical. In more established markets, including the U.S., elements of the design may be applied more selectively based on specific needs or opportunities.
At its core, Future Fresh brings together two key elements:
- Stronger brand impact at the street level: It aligns strategy, design, and marketing to present Wendy’s in a more distinctive, recognizable way by putting our brand personality and craveable food front and center in competitive environments.
- A seamless, end-to-end customer experience: It extends across the entire customer experience, from restaurant design and signage to packaging, technology, uniforms, and marketing, creating a more cohesive and consistent brand expression.
Q: Why introduce a new design now?
As we’ve opened restaurants in new markets, we’ve seen an opportunity to better differentiate Wendy’s by leveraging our iconic color palette, particularly in environments where multiple competitors use the color red.
Future Fresh leverages our brand assets to help Wendy’s stand out, reflecting how customers want to see and interact with restaurants today.

Q: What will customers notice first?
Customers will notice a bold, more contemporary look, including a more prominent use of blue balanced with red. This is a nod to our roots, as the very first Wendy’s restaurant featured a blue and white exterior.

That refreshed look carries throughout the restaurant, from what the customer sees outside, to a modern, technology-forward interior, to updated, bold branded throughout. Together, these features create a more cohesive brand presence and highlight what sets Wendy’s apart: freshly made, craveable food.
Q: How does Future Fresh improve the customer experience?
Future Fresh reflects how customers order and dine today. It incorporates digital displays, streamlined layouts, and modern technology for mobile and in-restaurant ordering. It also introduces new ways to support delivery partners, including optional, dedicated waiting areas that improve interior traffic flow and comfort.
These updates make the experience more intuitive for customers while improving efficiency inside the restaurant.

Q: Does the design look the same everywhere?
No, and that’s intentional.
Future Fresh is designed to balance consistency with flexibility, allowing restaurants to reflect local communities while maintaining a recognizable Wendy’s brand.
Through elements like signage that can be adapted to reflect different languages and our optional mural program reflecting local culture and community, restaurants can bring Wendy’s “globally great, locally loved” international mindset to life in each market.

Q: Where can customers experience Future Fresh today?
Future Fresh restaurants are already open in several international markets, including Armenia, Chile, the Dominican Republic, England, the Philippines, and Scotland. While the design is available to franchisees globally, there are currently no Future Freshrestaurants open in the U.S.
Q: What’s next for Future Fresh?
As Future Fresh continues to roll out, you’ll see Wendy’s show up more distinctly in new and developing markets. It’s all part of Wendy’s ongoing commitment to evolve with customers while staying true to the brand they know and love.
