Wendy’s Celebrates Its 3rd Annual Spirit Day

2018 Wendy's Spirit Day
2018 Wendy's Spirit Day
THE WENDY’S TEAM IS DECKED OUT IN PURPLE TO CELEBRATE SPIRIT DAY!

Dave Thomas founded Wendy’s® 50 years ago, and he believed you should always Treat People with Respect and Do the Right Thing. At Wendy’s, we still live by these values every day in support of our employees and customers.

Today at Wendy’s, we’re celebrating Spirit Day for the third year. Spirit Day, which is sponsored by GLAAD®, began several years ago in schools to take a stand against bullying of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer youth. The event expanded to the business community in recent years where it’s equally important to create welcoming and safe spaces. By taking a stand against LGBTQ bullying, we’re both doing the right thing and treating people with respect.

Our Wendy’s Equality Employee Network, WeQual, decided to host Spirit Day at Wendy’s, and we’re proud to note that this year, we’ve extended the opportunity to participate in Spirit Day to our Company restaurant team members.

At our Restaurant Support Center, we’ll celebrate with purple everything – clothing, posters, and even Grape Fanta® Frosty® Floats (a delicious concoction that our friends at The Coca-Cola Company helped us create just for Spirit Day). We’re also encouraging employees to sign an anti-bullying pledge.

In our Company-owned restaurants, team members can wear “Proud to be an Ally” stickers to show their support. It’s just one more way our employee networks are making Wendy’s better every day.

According to GLAAD, you can also support Spirit Day by doing the following:

  1. Wear Purple to speak out against bullying and discrimination of LGBTQ youth and adults.
  2. Sign an anti-bullying pledge. You can find one online. We’ll host pledge signing events throughout the day at our campus.
  3. Learn the facts so you can help make your work or school environment safe and welcoming for everyone.
  4. And spread the word with your family, friends, coworkers and social networks using #SpiritDay2019.

Go Purple! #SpiritDay2019
